WOPHA (Women Photographers International Archive) in collaboration with 1854 Media and British Journal of Photography present the winners of the Female in Focus’s international photography award in Green Space Miami from November 18, 2021 through to January 18, 2022.
The Female in Focus award was conceived to address gender inequality in the industry and bring awareness around the ever-growing issue. Its purpose is to discover, promote and reward exceptional women and non-binary photographers all over the world.
We [WOPHA] are honored to co-present this exhibition as part of the celebration of the world’s first-ever WOPHA Congress. In a fertile moment where we witness the rise of initiatives oriented to render visible women’s long-neglected contributions to photographic arts, the Female in Focus award represents an extraordinary opportunity for emerging talents to have their work promoted by one of the most prestigious photography platforms.
The WOPHA Congress invites women photography organizations from around the world to participate alongside acclaimed art historians, curators, and preeminent women photographers on the topics of women, photography, and feminisms. It provides recognition, professional opportunities and fosters collaboration while establishing Miami as a meeting place for modern and contemporary photographic arts.
