SUMMARY:Mystic Triangle: Film Screening & Artist Talk
DESCRIPTION:A preview screening of Mystic Triangle\, Christopher Mitchell’s documentary shot across three lakou over 15 years in Haiti\, followed by a conversation with artist Dimitry Saïd Chamy. \nThe two participating artists in Count It All Joy discuss how they come at the same word from opposite directions. Mitchell travels to the lakou and films what is still held there — land\, rhythm\, lineage\, obligation\, kept in the same hands. Chamy’s installation\, My memory palace is more of a lakou. When I draw\, it rains\, builds one out of memory: his grandmother Mémé’s fabric treasures\, his grandfather Luc’s garden\, his great-grandmother Yaya’s healing hands\, all of it reassembled from what he calls the generative paradox of poorly remembered fragments. \nOne goes to the site. The other draws until it rains.
