DESCRIPTION:The Artist as Catalyst Program is a four-day immersion produced by The Peace Studio\, recipients of a multi-year Green Family Foundation grant\, for emerging artists interested in making a positive social impact with their art. Located in the heart of Miami and embracing a specifically regional focus\, fifteen to twenty young Catalysts\, ages 18-26\, were selected to partake in studio classes and keynote conversations led by industry professionals\, collaborate with artists outside of their field in interactive workshops on the themes of Artistry\, Activism\, and Entrepreneurship\, and lead the conversation around the future of the arts in South Florida. \n  \nThe Artists Narrative & Storytelling \nLearn how artists build and express narratives around craft. \nPanel discussion with artists Najja Moon and Lauren Shapiro. \n  \nMapping Miami panel \nSandra Portal-Andreu\, a movement artist and former director of Project Art. \nKathryn Mikesell\, founder of Fountainhead Art Residency. \nAlejandro Rodriguez\, playwright and director\, and founder of AAC. \nThe panel was an opportunity to talk about the South Florida arts ecosystem and the available resources accessible to the Catalysts. \n  \nArtificial Intelligence and the Arts \nJessica Campbell\, an AI guru delivered a presentation on AI tools for creatives. \n  \nEmergency Preparedness \nClimate Crusader provided a presentation on ‘Emergency Preparedness for Artists’. Topics discussed were sea level projections\, hurricanes\, and how purpose can be transformed in times of emergency. \n  \nIntellectual Property Rights \nAllyn Ginns Ayers\, director of LegalARTLink and Dance Now! gave a presentation on contracts and IP basics for the artists. \n  \nArts and Longevity Panel. \nThe panel was comprised of: \nDiliana Alexander\, director of Filmgate Miami \nHouston Cypress\, poet\, artist & activist\, from the Otter Clan of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida \nOnajide Shabaka\, current Florida Prize finalist \nChire Regans aka VantaBlack\, community leader and social justice champion. \n  \nThe keynote speaker this year was Rosie Gordon-Wallace\, founder of Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator (DVCAI)\, a pillar of the South Florida arts scene.

According to the non-profit American Forests\,trees reduce heat-related illnesses and even lower utility costs\, improving quality of life. But inmany low-income neighborhoods the lack of trees worsens the already high levels of heat and pollution. The latest exhibit from Hampton Art Lovers showcasing the work of local artist Brandon Clarke at Green Space Miami\, is exploring the environmental and social implications of tree canopy disparities through art and conversation while celebrating the beauty of nature—The Canopy Policy Project presented and curated by Hampton Art Lovers does not end with this show and summit. It’s just beginning. We’ve collected oral histories and documented the stories to produce a documentary film that will live on and continue to advocate for more shade in African American communities. \n  \nSpeaker Karly Pulido-Sustainability in Miami-Dade Public Schools \nKarly Pulido is the inaugural Sustainability Officer at Miami-Dade County Public Schools\, where she spearheads sustainability strategies for the 3rd largest school district in the United States.With a Bachelor of Science in Sustainability and the Built Environment from the University of Florida and a Master’s of Engineering from The University of Wisconsin-Madison Karly’sjourney in sustainability has been diverse to say the least! Her career includes pivotal roles at Legacy Vacation Resorts\, where she was instrumental in achieving B-Corp certification\, serving in the Peace Corps Uganda\, and at Orange County Public Schools\, where she managed the Sustainability Office. Karly’s comprehensive experience encompasses working with not-for-profits\, implementing robust sustainability strategies\, and fostering environmental justice. Herwork is driven by a deep commitment to improving community livelihoods and advocating for climate action across public and private sectors.

This exhibition goes beyond displaying beautiful artwork; it delves into the complex history and vibrant culture of the Haitian community. Each piece\, created by renowned artists\, celebrates the past\, present\, and future of Little Haiti\, highlighting the community\, its people\, and the institutions that define it.

SUMMARY:Soiree D'Art Haitian: An intimate conversation about Haitian Art
DESCRIPTION:An evening by Sant La with about 30-40 current and past Sant La Fellows. The objective is to strengthen the relationship between the 9 cohorts of Sant La Fellows. This social is an integral element of the program as it ensures its sustainability and improves communication between Fellows. \n  \nThe social event will encourage networking but will offer Fellows an opportunity to expand their understanding of Haitian culture. Refreshments catered by a Haitian chef will be served. The evening will also include a slide show of Haitian art curated to represent the different trends-Traditional (naif)\, modern\, abstract and post-modern. We will include a live presentation by a Haitian art collector\, an artist or a curator to talk about Haitian art and discuss collecting art.
