SUMMARY:Guitars Over Guns' Ayiti Showcase
DESCRIPTION:We’re grateful to have hosted\n\n\nGuitars Over Guns’\nAyiti Showcase\nfor Haitian Flag Day 🇭🇹 \nThank you to the community members that joined us to celebrate this special night\, and to the artists that shared their soul with us on stage – Inez Barlatier\, Man of Many Talents\, the GoGo alumni and Unistiq\, and others 🎤🎶 \n  \nWhile is the second annual showcase done in partnership between Green Family Foundation & Guitars Over Guns\, it is the first in-person celebration. To have the space full of community leaders\, creatives\, and advocates in recognition of Haitian Heritage Month is exemplary of what we can do together. \n  \n“Green Family Foundation is committed to our community through our strategic partnerships and support for community-based initiatives\,” said Dr. Kimberly Green\, President of Green Family Foundation. “Green Space Miami focuses on the importance of centering the voices and lived experiences of all Miami’s citizens. We celebrate their accomplishments and joy\, and create a safe space for addressing the issues facing our community today. Miami’s history resides in its people\, not in its structures.” \n  \nIt’s truly an honor for Green Space Miami to work with local organizations & artists to bring about celebration and education in joyous spaces. We want to ensure that what happens within our walls is a reflection of the communities beyond our building\, across Miami-Dade County.

SUMMARY:Parsing the Ocean Veil
DESCRIPTION:Parsing the Ocean Veil is a performance linking ocean pollution to climate change. Created by artists Kim Yantis and Lucinda Linderman of Suiting-Up for the Future Arts Collective\, with collaborating artist Dito Sudito\, the project addresses the environmental issues and impacts of garbage gyres in the ocean. The artists present a pair of embodied Ocean characters\, who navigate the exterior and interior of the gallery while transplanting plastic waste during their performance. \n  \nSuiting-Up for the Future Arts Collective artists Yantis and Linderman create demonstration pieces\, allegorical wearable artworks\, performances and workshops that have the ability to bridge the gap between the practice of scientists and the everyday habits of humans. Their practice centers around the rescue\, transformation\, and impact of industrial and post-consumer packaging\, cloth\, and plastics on our environment.
