About the Internationally acclaimed choreographer Jeanguy SAINTUS
Jeanguy Saintus is a Haitian-born choreographer. The founder and Artistic Director of Ayikodans (based in Haiti), Saintus has continuously pushed the limits of modern dance over the past decades. With over 30 years of experience, he has mastered a cross-cultural body language that interconnects the internal and global legacies of Haiti.
In 2008, Saintus was a laureate of the prestigious Prince Claus Award in The Netherlands for expanding the possibilities of the dance medium, fostering young talent, and inspiring pride in the strength, beauty, and richness of Haitian identity. He’s also received the Adrienne Arsht Center a vibrant@10, an Ivoh 2014 (Images and Voices of Hope Award for his work), and a Kriye Bode Award.
Saintus has traveled extensively to Europe, Asia, the Caribbean and America . He has choreographed for Phoenix Dance Theatre (Leeds|United Kingdom) Cleo Parker Dance Company, Junior Ballet Toulouse Occitanie (France) COBA (Collective of Black Artists), Grand Canyon University Ettington Dance Ensemble, Palm Beach Atlantic University Dance Ensemble, NDTC ( National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica), Barbados Dance Theatre among others. His most recent work for Phoenix Dance Theatre | Leeds, in England, a revised version of The Rite of Spring received warm accolades from the press and the general public.
