FIU BHI: A New Light Annual Art Show

The FIU Breast Health Initiative (formerly known as the Mobile Mammography Initiative) is a student-run organization that provides financial assistance to women within the NeighborhoodHELP (NHELP) Program at FIU Medicine who need a diagnostic or screening mammogram.

The FIU HWCOM’s BHI Annual Art Show is a public event that brought the FIU Medicine and greater Miami-Dade County communities together to support underserved women be proactive about their breast health, and to help them navigate their treatment options. There was an art raffle with pieces collected by members of our team, live music performed by FIU students, light refreshments, and other interactive activities. The objectives were to bring the community together to educate about the importance of being proactive regarding women’s breast health and raise money to help continue BHI’s mission to make diagnostic and screening mammograms for the underserved women of Miami-Dade County.
