Crossings at the Edge of Hope

March 22 @ 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Explore water futures through storytelling, film, movement and dialogue.

Join us for an inspiring interdisciplinary gathering exploring water futures through storytelling, film, movement and dialogue. This special event opens FIU’s joint commemoration of World Water Day in partnership with the UNESCO Chair on Sustainable Water Security at the Institute of Environment, featuring its Water and Culture Thematic Area. The afternoon begins with a traditional blessing led by Chief Francisco Ceyaotl Marin and Cecilia MX Ortega-Cano of the Ameyal Foundation, followed by a screening of Edge of Hope, a powerful documentary by filmmaker Dudley Alexis. An original activation of The Crossings, a choreographic work by Damaris Ferrer will follow, bringing water, memory and movement into conversation with a dynamic panel discussion to conclude the program. The conversation will feature community leaders, artists and scholars, moderated by Jaimie Luria, Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Religious Studies. Be part of a meaningful exchange at the intersection of art, history and our shared cultural landscape.
