Sepideh Kalani is an Iranian-born artist based in Miami, Florida. She holds an MFA in Ceramics from the University of Miami and a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Guilan, Iran. Since immigrating to the United States in 2021, she has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has received numerous grants, fellowships, awards, and residency opportunities. She is currently an artist-in-residence at Oolite Arts in Miami Beach.
Kalani’s interdisciplinary practice draws on cognitive science, psychology, history, storytelling, architecture, Persian miniature painting, and ceramic figuration. Working primarily with porcelain, she investigates how Iranian history, cultural traditions, and religious ideologies shape individual experience and collective memory. Rooted in her lived experience as an Iranian woman, her sculptures explore the body as a vessel of memory, trauma, resilience, and transformation. Through delicate yet emotionally charged forms, Kalani connects intimate personal narratives with broader histories of cultural and social change.
