Alexandra Fields O’Neale (b. 1989) is a Miami born and based visual artist whose research driven practice examines Black diasporic histories, cultural erasure, and the sociopolitical implications of identity across the Caribbean and South Florida. Working across photography, fiber, sound, and installation, she creates immersive environments that transform archival research and materials into vessels for collective memory. By recontextualizing material culture, her work considers how legacies, displacement, and acts of resistance continue to shape contemporary understandings of place, belonging, and identity.
She holds a degree in Culture and Media from The New School (2011). She has been awarded a Knight Arts Challenge Award (2021), an Oolite Ellies Creator Award (2022), a Miami-Dade Individual Artist Grant (2025 & 2026) and Miami-Dade County’s
FUNDarte Artist Access (ART) Grant (2026). O’Neale’s work has been featured at Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (2024), Collective 62 (2025) and the University of Miami’s Center for Global Black Studies (2026). She is currently developing a site specific commission for the Key Biscayne Public Library through Miami-Dade Art in Public Places
