Born and raised in Miami, Xiomara Forbez is an ideasmith and a multi-disciplinary artist. From 2015-2020 she was awarded five Gluck Fellowships for the Arts to design and implement outreach workshops on language, dance, and culture for kinder-second graders. From 2020-2022, Xiomara was awarded two Gluck Fellowships for the Arts to create two collaborative performance works, Elder Dance Post (postcard exchange with elders in nursing homes) and Exquisite Situations (a zoom dance and theater collaboration). In 2022, she was chosen as a Multi-disciplinary Artist Fellow at the Camargo Foundation in Cassis, France where she continued to develop her exquisite corpse methodology and designed collaborative projects. Xiomara holds a PhD in Critical Dance Studies (University of California, Riverside), a BA in French Language and Literature, and a BA in Linguistics (both from Boston University).
