Sophia Lacroix

Sophia Lacroix is a Haitian-American hyperrealist artist whose work explores memory, migration, cultural identity, and the beauty of everyday life. Born and raised in Pétion-Ville, Haiti, she immigrated to South Florida at age fifteen, where she has spent more than three decades developing a distinctive artistic practice. Through meticulously rendered oil paintings, charcoal drawings, and mixed-media works, Lacroix celebrates Haitian heritage by depicting market vendors, traditional foods, tropical landscapes, and the quiet dignity of ordinary people. Her work transforms familiar moments into enduring visual narratives that honor resilience, community, and cultural preservation. Entirely self-taught, she has exhibited extensively throughout Florida and across the United States and is the recipient of numerous honors, including the Elizabeth Morse Genius Best in Show Award and the City of North Miami’s Artist of the Year Award. Based in South Florida, Lacroix continues to preserve and share Haitian culture through art that bridges generations and communities.
