Shamar Watt is an interdisciplinary artist born in Kingston, Jamaica, and lives between Miami and New York City. His work merges sound, movement, and materials into immersive, multi-sensory experiences. He describes his work as “spiritual entertainment,” a liberatory practice
centered on transformation and collective memory; he interrogates the fluidity of the Black body and their shadows. Watt’s work engages the complexities and contradictions of the Caribbean condition, aiming to provoke alternative imaginaries and social relations. Watt invites witnesses to feel and inhabit sonic worlds beyond conventional limits, engaging presence together as pathways to liberation.
